Mission
Doing science with and for society
The Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Health (CIIS) coordinated by Marlene Barros is UCP's Health Research Unit and is present in 3 regional centers (Lisbon, Porto and Viseu) and integrates a team of researchers from multiple areas of knowledge: Medicine, Dental Medicine, Biomedicine, Neuroscience and Nursing.
What characterizes CIIS
Biomedical, Clinical and Translational Research
The research carried out by CIIS produces molecular (disease mechanisms, biomarkers and therapeutic targets), clinical and quality of life data with translation potential, namely to feed tools based on Artificial Intelligence that allow the generation of new knowledge suitable for the development of solutions at the scale of the individual, family and community.
CIIS was involved in the creation of the the first non-governmental Clinical Academic Center in Portugal - Católica Luz , and has been part of it since 2022.
