Biography

Adriana Martins holds a PhD in Modern Languages and Literatures. She is associate professor with habilitation at the Faculty of Human Sciences (UCP), where she is currently the International Affairs Coordinator for Outgoing Exchange, member of the steering committee of The Lisbon Consortium, and senior researcher of the Research Centre for Communication and Culture, integrating the research cluster ‘Critique, Conflict and Culture’. Among her publications are the co-edited books In Dialogue with Saramago: Essays in Comparative Literature (Splash Editions, 2021), Mediations of Disruption in Post-Conflict Cinema (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016), and Plots of War: Modern Narratives of Conflict (2012). Her most recent publications are “Remembrance of Acto da Primavera in Manoel de Oliveira’s Filmography” (in Benis & Branco, eds., Exploring Film and Christianity. Movement as Immobility, Routledge, 2025) and “Spell Reel (Filipa César, 2017)” (in Rosário & Duarte, eds. Um olhar português: cinema e natureza no séc. XXI, Documenta, 2024). Her research areas are Culture Studies, Film Studies, Comparative Literature, Globalization Studies.
