Biography

My academic education includes a bachelor degree in Biology followed by a master degree in Ecology, Environment and Territory, both in Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto. During my academic course I had the opportunity to do an extracurricular internship in environmental education at CIIMAR and a curricular internship in CIBIO concerning conservation, genetics and phylogeography. Finally, I developed my master thesis in phytoremediation entitled "Constructed Wetlands for saline wastewater treatment: role of three different plant species in salinity and nutrient removal", publishing a paper in the journal Science of the Total Environment. In 2017 I was a research fellow in School of Biotechnology (UCP) in the project "R4Textiles- Development of sustainable textiles based on the valorization of textile and agrofood waste" and had the opportunity to publish a paper in ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering and submit a patent. In 2018 I integrated another project "EcoTex- Development of more sustainable solutions for textile dyeing" until 2020. Currently I am a PhD student at School of Biotechnology (UCP) with the project "Lignin extract as potential biopesticide for the control of nematode parasites – an integrative approach."
