Biography
Ana Cabral holds a degree and a master's degree in Conservation and Restoration with an expertise in Painting conservation undertaken at the School of Arts of the Portuguese Catholic University in Oporto. She started her professional activity as a Conservator in 2016, having joined several working teams in the field of Easel Painting, Wooden Sculpture, Gilded Woodcarving and Furniture. Since 2020, she works at the Division of Museums of the Municipality of Oporto as a conservator-restorer supporting collections management decisions such as environmental monitoring and control, handling, packaging and moving of collections, assisting the installation of exhibitions and condition survey of artwork. Her working team also develops professional training on preventive conservation, conservation and restoration treatments and research studies on painting collections. Ana Cabral is also a PhD student developing her research study on painting materials and techniques from the 19th and 20th centuries specifically on the work of a Portuguese painter: Antonio Carneiro (1872-1930).
