Ana Pintado is graduated in Chemical Engineering at School of Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto in 1994 and holds a master’s degree in Energy Efficiency in the Chemical Industry in 2000. She is research in the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Ana is PhD student (write up phase) in Biotechnology (Food Science and Engineering) at College of Biotechnology, Portuguese Catholic University.
She taught courses in the chemical area, instrumental analysis methods, good laboratory practices and general chemistry. She has experience as laboratory technician and has been developing several skills in terms of preparation and processing of samples, bioprocess engineering, microbiological and analytical techniques, including chromatography, electrophoresis and spectrophotometry, experimental design, and development of analytical methods. Research interests include, development of new bioactive molecules and valorisation of by-products, and she has collaborated on several research projects in these areas. From 2018 to 2023, she worked at Alchemy project (collaborative project between Amyris Inc. and Biotechnology School of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (ESB-UCP)) at UCP. Currently, she works at Circulas project (collaborative project between Biorbis and Biotechnology School of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (ESB-UCP)) and she is coordinator of the analytical platform.
