Ana Salgueiro is a PhD candidate in Culture Studies at the Catholic University of Portugal. She has a master degree in African Lusophone Literature and is graduated in Portuguese Studies, both at the University of Lisbon. Ana is a researcher at the CECC-UCP, Research Centre for Comunication and Culture (Catholic University of Portugal) and at the UMa-CIERL, Reserach Center for Regional and Local Studies (University of Madeira Island). As a researcher, her work, both in the field of Literary Studies and in the field of the Studies of Culture, as well as in the field of Island Studies, has been mainly concerned with the Lusophone Macaronesia insular systems (Madeira Island, Cape Verde and Azores archipelago). Favouring interdisciplinary frameworks and approaches, Ana addresses issues such as: exile and human, cultural and textual mobility; the implications of culture and power; the relation between cultural, imaginary and natural phenomena; the role of artistic discourse (literary and visual) and academic discourse in contemporary societies. Her work has been presented and communicated at scientific meetings and cultural events and is published in national and international specialised journals and in books. Ana Salgueiro has been part of the Organizing Committees of several international and regional academic meetings. She is co-author and she coordinates both the research group "TRATUÁRIO. Routes to the History of Madeiran Culture" (NIT) and the project "TRANSLOCAL. Urban and Local Contemporary Cultures" (UMa-CIERL in partnership with Funchal City Council). She collaborates regularly with various non-academic cultural institutions/projects, such as the A.Poética magazine, the cultural association PORTA 33, PLACE performative project, etc.She integrates the Scientific Commettees of the "Laboratório Galego de Ecocrítica", the "Arquivo Histórico da Madeira" journal and she is member of the Madeiran evaluation committee of experts at Directorate-General for the Arts of the Portuguese Ministry of Culture. Ana is the co-author of "Vozes de Cabo Verde e Angola. Quatro percursos literários" (CLEPUL, 2010) e "Cabral do Nascimento. Escrever o mundo por detrás de um monóculo e a partir de um farol" (IA, 2015). She also co-edited the book "(Dis)Memory of disaster: a multidisciplinary approach" (UMa-CIERL, 2016).
