Personal profile

Biography

My academic and professional background has been marked by a concern to understand cognition from a layered point of view - from behavior to psychology to the structure and function of the brain. I have majored in Applied Psychology, Developmental Disorders Branch (I.S.P.A., Lisbon). For my postgraduate studies, I have undertaken a Diplome D’Etudes Approfondies (DEA) in Neuropsychology (Paris VI – Paris) and a PhD on Brain, Behavior and Cognition (Paris VI – Paris and KCL - London). I then investigated the neural correlates of motor expertise in my first Post-Doc at La Sapienza, Rome. My second and third Post-Docs were at Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Faculdade de Motricidade Humana, where I expanded my interests further (perceptual deficits in Developmental disorders and the cognitive impact of action observation). Today I continue to investigate these and other themes in Experimental Psychology. I currently teach, research and direct PhD, MSc and BSc students.
