Biography
Ana Sofia Nobre Salsinha earned an MSc in Biotechnology from the University of Lisbon, Instituto Superior Técnico, in 2016 and a BSc in Cellular and Molecular Biology from NOVA University of Lisbon, Faculty of Science and Technology, in 2014.
Since June 2017, she has worked at the Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF), initially as a research fellow. In 2024, she finished her PhD in Food Science and Technology and Nutrition.
Since May 2023, she has been a research assistant in the Diet65+ project. In this role, she focuses on developing food formulations enriched in fibre and protein and specifically tailored for elderly individuals, evaluating their impact on gut microbiota modulation.
Her research spans multiple disciplines, including Health Sciences, with a focus on Nutrition; Biological Sciences, specializing in Microbiology; Agrarian Sciences, with expertise in food Biotechnology; and basic medical sciences, with an emphasis on Neurosciences. Her scientific and technological work primarily revolves around the impact of bioactive lipids in obesity, specifically focusing on their beneficial impact on neuroinflammation and gut microbiota modulation.
In recent years, she has collaborated on several projects investigating the role of diet and bioactive molecules in modulating gut microbiota and the potential impact of the gut-brain axis on neurodegenerative diseases and neuroinflammation.
