Annimari Juvonen is part of the research group “Culture, Art and Conflict” at Centro de Estudos de Comunicação e Cultura (CECC) at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, having submitted her PhD dissertation with the title "Poverty and Precarity in post-2008 Europe - Visual Practices and Processes of Social (In)Visibility". She holds Master’s Degrees in Social and Cultural Anthropology (University of Helsinki) and in Anthropology of Human Rights and Social Movements (Universidade Nova de Lisboa). The main research interests are questions relating to visual culture and the society; discursive practices, histories of photography and cinema, forms of contemporary poverty and precarity, as well as migration and postmigration.
