Biography

António O. S. S. Rangel is Full Professor (Professor Catedrático) at Escola Superior de Biotecnologia (ESB-UCP), Porto, Portugal; he is presently President of the Scientific Board of ESB-UCP and member of the Direction Board of the Research Center, CBQF. He got his degree in Chemistry from University of Porto in 1985, and his PhD degree in Biotechnology (specialisation in Chemistry) from ESB-UCP in 1991.  He co-authored more than 190 papers in international journals and was involved in the supervision of 20 PhD theses. His research interests are mainly focused on the development of flow-based methods for the automation and miniaturization of (bio)chemical assays, with applications in the environmental, food, and biomedical sectors. His teaching activity involves general chemistry and analytical chemistry disciplines.
