Biography

Professor of Law at the Lisbon School of Law, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, where he earned his PhD in 2009, with a thesis on Jurisprudence and Principles of Law - “Jurisprudência dos Princípios - Ensaio sobre os Fundamentos da Decisão Jurisdicional”. He currently serves as the coordinator of the PhD Programme in Lisbon School of Law, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and also as the coordinator of the research line “See the Future - Sea, Environment and Natural Resources” of the Católica Research Centre for the Future of Law. He was advisor to the President of the Constitutional Court of Portugal from 2007 to 2012.  

His preferential research areas are General Principles of Law, Human Rights and Constitutional Rights, Global Law, Law of the Sea and Environmental Law.
