Biography

Antonio Chenoll is a researcher at UID-FCT no. 4372, Distance Learning and E-learning Laboratory (LE@D), Universidade Aberta (Portugal). He holds a PhD in Language Teaching from the Universidade do Porto (FLUP), a Master's degree in Methodology and Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language, and a degree in Hispanic Philology from the Universitat de València. He has completed various postgraduate courses specializing in teaching Spanish and in digital technologies, social web, and multimedia learning applied to language teaching. He has also participated in various conferences as a speaker, presenter, and teacher trainer in face-to-face and online foreign language teaching-learning, particularly in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, and Austria. He has published several research articles on web technologies applied to foreign language teaching, learning styles, colloquial Spanish, or perceptive phonetics, among others. Likewise, he has designed and created materials for application on the Moodle platform through the Ministry of Education in Portugal, usage manuals for Portuguese speakers, multimedia Learning Objects, and different teaching units that reflect the scientific research carried out. His current research interests focus on the acquisition of foreign languages as a cognitive process through online and multimedia texts, as well as the process of production, perception, and acquisition of spoken language. Regarding teaching experience, he has worked in various Spanish and Portuguese institutions (undergraduate, master's, and doctorate) in both face-to-face and online environments. He taught Spanish at the Universidade Aberta and Escola Móvel (Portuguese online university and secondary education respectively) for three years, Instituto Cervantes in Lisbon, Escola Superior de Enfermagem de Lisboa (ESEL), Enfórex and Costa de Valencia, the last two in Valencia. Since 2007 he has been working as a Spanish Lecturer, and since 2015 as an Invited Assistant Professor. From 2019 to 2023 he was an Assistant Professor of Spanish at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Lisbon, where he also conducts research at the CECC (Research Centre for Communication and Culture). Likewise, he was part of the Career Office of the faculty itself. He is currently an Invited Assistant Professor at the Universidade Aberta and an integrated member of LE@D.
