Biography

Augustine Danso is an African film scholar who has authored critical and interesting scholarly works on cinema in Africa. He has served as a voluntary research associate at the University of Cape Coast (Ghana) and supervised relevant projects, both academic and non-academic within the field of cinema. Augustine has been honored and acknowledged for his research expertise and critical contribution to African film scholarship by the Reinnhovert films and scholars of African media and cinema. He is currently pursuing his doctoral studies in Communication Sciences at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Lisbon.  Augustine's doctoral thesis focuses on Ghanaian cinema within the context of 'Third Cinema' project, where he attempts to investigate the shift and paradigms of cinema as a critical political tool from the African perspective. His research interests are focused on questions of representations, politics and power from the perspective of cinema and media.
