Biography

Carla Santos completed her PhD in Biotechnology in 2017 at Universidade Católica Portuguesa Escola Superior de Biotecnologia. Is currently Doctorate Researcher at UCP, working on the characterization of different germplasms and implementing more sustainable agricultural practices. Published 36 articles in scientific peer-reviewed journals and 7 book chapters. Currently is the supervisor of 2 PhD students. Was the recipient of 10 awards, being the latest the FESPB Young Scientists Award (2023) in recognition of the achievements as an outstanding young European researcher in Plant Biology. Founded the LeguCon Consortium (www.legucon.pt), which aims to increase legume production in Portugal and support sustainable consumption patterns. Is Associate Editor for Frontiers in Plant Science - board of Plant Nutrition (Q1) and was invited as Guest Editor for 4 Special Issues in different scientific journals. Has an h index of 15 and a total number of citations of 663 (Scopus December 2023).
