Biography

Carlos Barros holds a PhD in Psychology, with specialisation in Social Psychology from the University of Lisbon. He has completed a post-doctoral programme in Integral Human Development at the Portuguese Catholic University. Currently works on well-being, resilience, digital connection and intergenerational solidarity in Portuguese migrants and their families/communities. Assistant Professor and Researcher at the Faculty of Human Sciences / Research Centre for Communication and Culture of the Portuguese Catholic University.

He is an Expert in the evaluation of Science and Technology projects at COST - European Cooperation in Science and Technology (since 2020). It is the Portuguese representative on the management committee of the COST Action TraFaDy - Transnational Family Dynamics in Europe action, being Co-Leader of the Health and Well-being Group (until 2026). Received scientific support as a visiting scholar in Athens, Greece (2023); Medal of Merit from the House of Portugal in São Paulo (2023) and from the Municipality of Valongo, Porto (2021); participated in several international projects, having received COST support for the dissemination of science and participation in international research (2016, 2018 and 2023); he has been a guest lecturer and researcher on various institutional projects, in particular, his participation in the University Pact for the Promotion of Respect for Diversity, Culture of Peace and Human Rights of the Brazilian Federal Government (2018); he received a Distinction of Praise for the democratisation of Culture and Education from the Noble House of Citizenship (2014). Interests and research topics: Resilience in contexts of transition; Social norms, values and prejudices; Adaptation and Digital Connection; Human Migrations; Work-life balance; Transnational Families; Intercultural Studies.
