Biography

Daniela Machado is a researcher at Centro de Biotecnologia e Química Fina (CBQF, ESB- UCP). She graduated in Análises Clínicas e Saúde Pública in July 2010 by the Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde do Porto, Instituto Politécnico do Porto. Later, she completed PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering by Universidade do Minho (July 2017), enjoying a FCT PhD grant.  Furthermore, Daniela Machado has engaged in teaching activities in higher education within the scope of Microbiology. In last years, she has also participated in the organization and/or dynamization of several outreaching activities for students from all ages in partnership with ESB-UCP. Her main research interests include: probiotics; intestinal microbiota; encapsulation; delivery systems; new foods; dietary supplements and drugs; biological validation; antimicrobial activity; and screening of prebiotic, antioxidant, antihypertensive and antidiabetic activities.
