Diogo Marques Gonçalves is pursuing a PhD in Political Science and International Relations, specializing in Political Science, at the Institute of Political Studies of the Portuguese Catholic University. His submitted doctoral thesis project is titled "The Realization of Human Rights: A Study on the Ideas of Equality, Freedom, and Social Justice in the Political Philosophy of Thomas Paine." He holds a Master's degree in Political Science and International Relations from the same institution, with a dissertation titled "Thomas Paine's Belief in Rationalism and His Attack on the English Monarchy." His areas of interest include the history of political philosophy, the 18th century, and the political-philosophical thought of Thomas Paine.
