Edna Soares

Edna Soares, PhD, is an Invited Assistant at FMD-UCP, and an Integrated Researcher at CIIS-Viseu.

Edna Soares concluded a degree in Biotechnology at the Coimbra College of Agriculture (2010), a master’s degree in Biochemistry at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Coimbra (FCTUC, 2012) and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, branch of Pharmaceutical Technology, at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Coimbra (FFUC, 2018).

Her research interests are in the field of Health Sciences and Biomedicine, particularly on Neurosciences and Pharmaceutical Technology. She developed research activities on preclinical characterization of memory deficits associated with prediabetes and dedicated to the development of particulate adjuvants for both prophylactic and therapeutic vaccine formulations and the implementation of safe-by-design concept methodologies to fulfil the lack of appropriate guidelines for polymeric nanobiomaterials. Additionally, she was a contracted researcher at FMUC, in a project dedicated to peripheric biomarkers of neuropsychiatric diseases, namely the extracellular vesicle content as putative depression biomarkers. She published several papers in international journals and presented her work in national and international conferences (h-index 13).
