Biography

Fernanda Maria Guedes de Campos has a PhD in History (2013) from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of NOVA University, in Lisbon (NOVA FCSH-UNL). She got her degree in History (1971) from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon (FL-UL), where she also concluded, in 1973, her Post-Graduate degree in Documental Sciences. Between 1992 and 2006 she was Sub-Director of the Portuguese National Library and, between 1994 and 2001, a member and president of the European Commission on Preservation and Access (ECPA). She taught in the Documental Sciences course in the FL-UL (1983-1991), in the Masters course on Information and Digital Libraries in the ISCTE (2000-2005) and in the Masters course in Documental Sciences in UAL (2006-2011). She is a member of the “Grupo de Trabalho para as Bibliotecas e o Livro” and of the Scientific Commission of the journal Invenire, of the Secretariado Nacional para os Bens Culturais. Researcher of the Centro de Humanidades (CHAM NOVA FCSH/UAç), participating in the the Group “Leitura e Formas de Escrita”, and researcher of the Centre of Religious History Studies (Centro de Estudos de História Religiosa) - Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP-CEHR), coordinator of the ongoing project "Convents and Monasteries in Portugal (1096-1901): spatiality and temporalities (CONVEMOS Project) [Conventos e Mosteiros de Portugal (1096-1901): espacialidade e temporalidades]", funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Main areas of interest: Modern History; Education; History of the book; Culture and libraries; Cultural Heritage; Religion; History of religious orders; 18th century; Memory and Archives.
