Biography

Fernando Ilharco is Associate Professor at the Catholic University of Portugal (UCP), in Lisbon, and  President of the Research Centre on Peoples and Cultures (CEPCEP) of UCP. He has a PhD in Information Systems (Management Department) from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), London, and an MBA by the Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics (CLSBE) of UCP. He is a researcher at the Research Centre for Communication and Culture (CECC) of UCP. Since 2003, he has supervised more than one hundred master, doctoral, and post-doc dissertations and theses. He is the author of twelve books and more than thirty peer-reviewed research works, individually and in co-authorship, published by world leading academic houses such as Oxford University Press, Wiley, Springer, Elsevier, Macmillan, De Gruyter, UCP Press. His main areas of research are (i) communication, technology, and change; (ii) communication, influence, and leadership; and (iii) the philosophy of communication and epistemology. Currently (2024/25), he is lecturing/teaching Communication Studies I (epistemology and communication) at PhD level; and Advanced Studies in Communication [communication, technology, and contexts], Communication and Artificial Intelligence, and Communication and Leadership, at Master level; all of them in English. On executive education, he his running modules and talks on effective communication, teamwork, leadership, high-performance, change management, and positivity. In the last 15 years, he carried on more than 200 successful Talks for companies and public entities, in Portugal and abroad.
