Biography

Gaia Kriscak, born in Trieste, Italy in 1995, boasts a diverse academic background, including two BAs from the Rijksuniversiteit of Groningen, Netherlands, and a Master’s from University College Cork, all achieved with first-class honours. Her financial independence since the onset of the university has cultivated a robust work ethic and multitasking abilities, honed through roles in tourism, customer service, image analysis, store management, and content creation. Proficient in Italian, English (TEFL level 3), and Spanish, with a good understanding of French, Slovene, and German, Gaia began her freelance writing career in 2022, contributing to publications like Whatnerd. Her creative endeavours extend beyond writing; she has appeared in numerous video projects, worked as an extra on Italian television, and illustrated book covers. Collaborative projects, such as Cookies with illustrator Rita Mhoira Cedarmas, showcased at the Fumetto - International Comix-Festival Lucerne, underscore Gaia’s versatility. In 2022, she completed a Master’s with a dissertation and documentary focused on domestic space in film, laying the groundwork for her ongoing PhD research, which explores the portrayal of domestic space in contemporary cinema. Gaia’s academic pursuits intersect with her artistic endeavours, as demonstrated by her presentation at the Esploration on Sound and New Media Conference in 2023, where she discussed a human-machine experiment involving poetry and AI. Notably, Gaia's short film Come Out in the Wash was screened at the Fastnet Film Festival in Schull, Ireland, in 2022. Her diverse experiences and unwavering commitment to her passions render her a compelling candidate for academic and artistic endeavours alike. Her aspiration to become an established author, podcaster, and researcher aligns with her academic path as a CITAR researcher and PhD student at the Escola Das Artes, in Porto.
