Biography
Gonçalo de Almeida Ribeiro is the Vice-President of the Constitutional Court and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the International Constitutional Law Association. Graduated from the Faculty of Law of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, he obtained an LL.M. and a doctoral degree from Harvard Law School. His doctoral dissertation was awarded the Mancini Prize in 2012 and was later published in a shortened and improved version by Hart Publishing as “The Decline of Private Law: A Philosophical History of Liberal Legalism” (2019). His research focuses mainly on the areas of constitutional law, the philosophy of law, the history of law and comparative law.
