Biography
PhD in Biotechnology from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and a degree in Biology from the University of Porto. Irina Moreira is researched at the Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF), Escola Superior de Biotecnologia (ESB) of the Universidade Católica portuguesa, where she teaches curricular units in the areas of environment and toxicology.
Her research interests focus on biotechnology with a special focus on the biodegradation of pollutants, namely fluorinated compounds and emerging pollutants, mechanisms of biodegradation, elucidation of metabolic pathways and evaluation of the degradation in bioreactors. She has participated in several national and international R&D projects. She has co-authored 23 internationally indexed publications, 3 book chapters, over 40 communications in oral/poster format. Participate in the supervision of research projects of several students, including ERASMUS; she co-supervised 1 master thesis and 2 doctoral thesis and argued 4 master's theses. Project evaluation for international entities, such as: Australian Research Council, Austrian Science Fund, National Science Center in Poland and Czech Science Foundation. She is currently also a member of the CBQF Task Force - “Society Engagement”.
