Biography
Jéssica Tavares, food biotechnologist fascinated by the combination of exact sciences with life sciences. At the same time, I am a sports and nature enthusiast. I completed my master's degree in Food Biotechnology (18 points) in 2018 and my bachelor's degree in Biotechnology (16 points) in 2016, both from the University of Aveiro. In 2017, I became one of the 6 finalists in the 6th Edition of the “CAP University & Polytechnic Competition: Cultivate Your Future”. I have professional experience in the food industry, particularly in the meat and fish area. In 2020 I joined Professor Doutor Jorge Saraiva's team (INNOVATE Group) as a Research Fellow at the University of Aveiro, at LAQV-REQUIMTE. I am currently a PhD researcher fellow in the area of Food and Nutrition Science and Technology. My doctoral research project consists of applying non-thermal processing technology, High Pressure, to meat with the aim of guaranteeing food safety and quality and thus replacing thermal processing technologies.
