Personal profile

Biography

My research interests are formed by years of experience as a journalist and communicator, teacher of communication sciences and the liberal arts, university administrator, and civil society volunteer. Inspired by Art. XIX of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, I have investigated the prospects of enhancing the occupational ideology of journalism using existentialist and phenomenological lenses. Proceeding from Art. XXVII of the same declaration, I am examining how journalists use cultural memory in covering underreported global issues. My research outputs are situated within the intersection of journalism, media, globalization, media narratives, cultural memory, philosophy, and religion. As of 2022, my research activities engage a range of subjects including international law, social artificial intelligence, religion, and health from media and communicative perspectives. I have familiarity with research methods including ethnovideography, qualitative content analysis, and critical discourse analysis and am trained in the gamut of research methods from the qualitative to the quantitative.
