Biography

João Alves da Cunha got his degree in Architecture of Urban and Territorial Planning from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon - FAUL (1998), where he also concluded, in 2003, his Masters Degree in Rehabilitation of Architecture and Urban Centres; and, in 2014, his PhD Degree in Architecture with a specialization in Architecture - Theory and History, with the Thesis on 'MRAR - The Religious Art Renewal Movement and the Golden Years of Religious Architecture in Portugal in the 20th century', a work honoured by FAUL with the Professor Manuel Tainha Prize, corresponding to the best PhD thesis in Architecture in 2013-2014. Integrated researcher at the Centre of Religious History Studies (Centro de Estudos de História Religiosa) - Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP-CEHR); and a member of the Project "Encyclopedia of Religious History - online" and of the Working Group "Religious Differentiation: Theologies and Sociabilities" at UCP-CEHR. Main areas of interest: History; Architecture; Urban and Territorial Planning; Cultural Heritage; Religious Architecture; Territorial development.
