João Mendes

Creator and director of OLHO Festival de Cinema de Animação and Forum de Animação, Vice President of Casa da Animação (association dedicated to the dissemination of Portuguese animation), animation professor at the ” Escola Artística Soares dos Reis”, Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) and the “Instituto Politécnico do Cávado e do Ave” (IPCA), also participated in the organization of the “Ink and Motion – International Conference on Animation and Comics”, at the Catholic University of Porto. In his work he explores the transitions between animated cinema and puppet theater, he has a master’s degree in Computer Animation from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and has collaborated with the companies “Teatro de Marionetas do Porto” and “Redcloud Marionetas”, with which he participated in six plays. In 2010 he founded the audiovisual production company “HUSMA”, where he was producer and director.
