Biography

João Pinto is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Católica Porto Business school and Vice-president at Catholic University of Portugal – Porto. He holds a Ph.D. in Business and Management Studies, with a specialization in Finance, from University of Porto. He was a visiting scholar at Michael F. Price College of Business - The University of Oklahoma. João Pinto has worked with public and private firms on valuation, financing decisions, cost-benefit analysis, project finance, corporate restructuring and due diligence. He has published refereed articles in several academic journals, including the Journal of Corporate Finance, European Financial Management, European Journal of Finance, Finance Research Letters, and Investment Management and Financial Innovations. Current projects include analysis on the firm's choice of project financing over corporate financing; banks bond choice and capital structure; sustainable finance; the impact of ECB’s asset purchase programs on firms’ cost of borrowing and financing choices.
