Biography

José Guerreiro is Assistant Aggregate Professor in Marine Sciences at the Faculty of Sciences of the Lisbon University (FCUL) and member of the MARE - Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, coordinating the Research Group on Ocean Governance and Sustainability. He graduated in Biology and is PhD in Ecology and Byosistematics at FCUL. His area of expertise and research is Environmental and Marine Governance and Policy. He teaches Environmental Law and Policy, Marine Governance and Conservation, Environmental Management and Ecotourism. He is member of the coordinating body of the Master in Ecology and Environmental Management (FCUL). He also developed a public career with several assignments since 1995, until the present.
He is Co-coordinator of the Master in Environmental Governance and Management at the Faculty of Sciences of the Agostinho Neto University in Luanda, Angola in collaboration with the FCUL. He is also teaches Ecology, Coastal Planning and Management at the Faculty of Sciences of the Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique. He is coordinator of the blue entrepreneurship initiative MARE STARTUP and co-coordinator of the Post Graduate Course, Sea Science and Business Administration in cooperation with the Portuguese Catholic University.
He has a large experience since 1992 of EU RT&D Projects, mainly in Africa, focusing on environmental and marine governance and conservation.
