Biography

José Joaquim Ferreira Matias Alves is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. He has published or organised 149 books and 85 chapters in books. 47 scientific articles published in specialist journals, 37 texts published in newspapers or magazines, 4 editorial participations in magazines. He is Coordinator of the Final Report Evaluation Commission of the area Education Sciences and Policies_FCT [2016-18; 2019_22]. Deputy Director of the Faculty of Education and Psychology (2011-2021). President of the Supervisory Board of the Portuguese Society of Education Sciences (since 2017...). Member of the Scientific Committee of the XIV Congress of the Portuguese Society of Educational Sciences (2018), Member of the Organizing Committee of the XV Congress of the Portuguese Society of Educational Sciences (2020) - Supervisor of 68 Master Dissertations, 16 Doctoral Theses and 2 Post-Doctoral in the area of Educational Sciences; Member of the Scientific Council for the Evaluation of Teachers (2008) - President of the Municipal Assembly of Gondomar (2009-2013) - Director-General of Secondary Education (1994-1996).
