José Joaquim Ferreira Matias Alves is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. President of the Supervisory Board of the Portuguese Society of Education Sciences (since 2017...). Member of the Scientific Committee of the XIV Congress of the Portuguese Society of Educational Sciences (2018), Member of the Organizing Committee of the XV Congress of the Portuguese Society of Educational Sciences (2020) - Supervisor of 68 Master Dissertations, 16 Doctoral Theses and 2 Post-Doctoral in the area of Educational Sciences; Member of the Scientific Council for the Evaluation of Teachers (2008) - President of the Municipal Assembly of Gondomar (2009-2013) - Director-General of Secondary Education (1994-1996).
