Biography

José Pedro Angélico has been an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Theology of the Catholic University of Portugal (UCP) since March 2016, having been an Invited Assistant Professor between September 2010 and February 2016. He also taught at the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical University of Salamanca (UPSA), as an Associate Professor. In 2017, he joined the academic staff of the Global Ecumenical Theological Institute, in Berlin. He holds a doctorate in Dogmatic Theology from the UPSA. He also has a licentiate degree in Dogmatic Theology from the same institution (2008), a postgraduate degree in Studies of the Camino de Santiago from the Theological Institute of Compostela (2021), and a degree in Theology from the UCP (2006). He also attended several courses as part of the Baccalaureate in Divinity at St Patrick’s College in Maynooth – Ireland (2005-2006), the Degree in Humanities at the Universidade Aberta (2017-2018) and the Master’s in Literary, Cultural and Inter-Arts Studies at the University of Porto (2018-2019). Since 2020, he has been working on his doctoral thesis in Literature and Culture Studies at the University of Santiago de Compostela. Having been a researcher at the Centre for the Study of Portuguese Thought (2014-2016) and the Centre for the Study of Philosophy (2016-2018) at the UCP, since 2017 he has been a researcher at the Centre for Research in Theology and Religious Studies. Member of the Chair of Poetry and Transcendence – Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, based at the Porto Regional Centre of the UCP. He has been a member of the European Society for Catholic Theology, since 2008, and of the Latin American Association of Literature and Theology, since 2018.
