Biography

José Vasco Carvalho is a Sound Designer, Researcher, and Professor. He received his M.Sc. in Multimedia Arts at the University of Porto and is a PhD holder and a researcher at the Research Center for Science and Technology in the Arts (CITAR). His investigation focuses on two main areas, sound for film and new digital media. His work deals with sound and visual interaction using sound design practices in technological, musical, and artistic environments. The city and the sculpture in public space are central themes in his work that also explore the sound objects in public soundscapes. In cinema, he developed work in sound production and post-production and his films participated and won in several national and international festivals.
