Biography

Kata Horváth is a Ph.D. student at Universidade Católica Portuguesa and at Eötvös Loránd University. She is a researcher at Mérték Media Monitor. Her research focuses on recent transformations in the Hungarian media system from the viewpoints of journalistic practices and their impacts on Hungarian society. She was awarded the First Prize in 2021 and the Second Prize in 2023 at the National Scientific Student Competition in the media studies section. She joined the Newsreel - New Skills for the Next Generation of Journalists research at ISCTE-IUL University in Lisbon in the autumn of 2022. She was awarded the New National Excellence Program Scholarship for her research on fact-checking in Hungary. She was awarded the Pro Scientia Gold Medal in 2023. Among other things, she is currently researching the resilience of Hungarian journalists as a fellow of the New National Excellence Program.
