Biography

Liliana Fernandes is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEG)/CPBS of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP), Porto, Portugal, where she has been teaching since 2003, and a Researcher of the Research Center in Management and Economics (CEGE) - CPBS, UCP. She holds a Phd in Economics, a Masters Degree in Political Science and International Relations, with specialization in Public Policy, and a Bachelor-s Degree in Economics. She was also a visiting research student at the Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion (CASE) of the London School of Economics (LSE). She teaches several courses, namely Social Economics, Development Economics and Macroeconomics, having also taught other courses such as Economics and Public Policy, Economics of Social Problems and Social Policy and Territorial Development Policy. Her current research interests focus on child poverty and social exclusion, child well-being, and social policy. She has related published research featuring in the Social Indicators Research journal and the Journal of Socio-Economics and she as also contributed to the Child Indicators Research journal as a guest co-editor. She has published book chapters, namely in a Handbook by Springer. She has participated in several research and consultancy projects related with child poverty and well-being, social policy and the welfare state, and the social economy/third sector. In 2013 she was awarded the "Kamerman & Kahn Young Scholar Award", at the "4th ISCI Conference: Child Indicators in a Globalized World: Implications for Research, Practice, and Policy”, Seoul, South Korea.
