Biography
Lorena Ferreira Alves is a Brazilian artist and researcher, graduated in Music - Qualification in School Music Teaching from the School of Music and Scenic Arts of the Federal University of Goiás (Brazil) in 2013. She completed in 2016 her Master's degree in Music in the line Music, Culture and Society by the Postgraduate Program of the School of Music and Scenic Arts of the Federal University of Goiás, where she received a scholarship financed by CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel of Brazil). Between 2016 and 2017 she worked as a higher level teacher of electric guitar, acoustic guitar and music theory at the Basileu França Center for Professional Education in Arts (Goiânia, Brazil). In 2017, she entered the PhD in Visual Arts at the University of Brasília, funded by CAPES scholarship. She developed her doctoral research called Artsoundveillance: hybridization between sound art and artveillance, whose method of artistic production resulted in the creation of sound installations, sound sculptures and sound objects. The artistic works developed during her doctoral course have been featured in several exhibitions. The main ones were: the Sound Art Exhibition, that took plane in the SiMN (International Symposium of New Music), held at the Federal University of Paraná in the city of Curitiba (Brazil) in 2018 and EmMeio#10 computational art exhibition of the 17th International Meeting of Art and Technology at the National Museum of the Republic (Brasília - Brazil) in 2018. Besides the exhibitions cited, she also worked in the organization of VIII COMA (Visual Arts Collective) - Atlas for the Future: Arts Research at the University, # 17.ART - International Meeting of Art and Technology and Open Lab - event produced by MediaLab/UnB (Research Laboratory in Computational Art of the University of Brasília) in 2019. In 2020, she started her PhD in History and Arts course at the University of Granada (Spain) under joint supervision. The artistic production developed during her investigation resulted in her nomination in 2021 for the PIPA Prize. She currently works as a junior researcher at CITAR (Research Center for Science and Technology of the Arts) at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
