Biography

Luísa Mota Ribeiro, PhD is Assistant Professor in Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Faculty of Education and Psychology and Dean of the Research Centre for Human Development. She studies the psychology of education and learning, with a particular interest in understanding, from a psychological perspective, relevant processes that impact on the teaching-learning process and educational success at different levels of education. This analysis has been accompanied by the design, implementation, and evaluation of psychological interventions in real contexts. She has also focused on the perceptions of students, teachers, and parents in relation to school, teaching, learning, and evaluation, with valid contributions to the transformation of practices in educational settings. She has been keen to bring this view of the psychology of education and learning to vulnerable contexts and populations. As responsible for the implementation and institutionalization of SL in UCP, she has secured 6 competitive international grants. She is responsible for the CApS Project – Catholic University and Service-Learning: Innovation and Social Responsibility, which is being developed at UCP (Braga, Lisbon, Porto, and Viseu) and aims to stimulate pedagogical innovation and social responsibility in higher education. In this methodology the active participation of students and community members and reflection on the experience lived are valued. She is responsible for the Community Service program of the Psychology degree, which was recognised by the OECD - Institutional Management in Higher Education as a quality teaching and pedagogical innovation initiative.
