Biography

Mónica Alexandra Gonçalves Azevedo has a M.Sc. in Clinical Microbiology and Emerging Infectious Diseases (FMUL) and a B.Sc. in Biology, specializing in Molecular and Genetics (FCUL). She is currently a research assistant at Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (ESB UCP-CRP), within the scope of the GenoPhenoTraits4Persitence project. During her professional career, she was also part of a research team at the National Reference Laboratory for Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare-Associated Infections and Gastrointestinal Infections (Instituto Nacional de Saúde Doutor Ricardo Jorge), highlighting projects focused on the dissemination and emergence of antibiotic resistance in different organisms and ecosystems, involving genetic and epidemiological studies, an area in which she particularly enjoyed working. She has been equally dedicated to publishing articles and participating at scientific meetings.
