    Biography

    Manuel Carvalho Coutinho is a FCT funded post-doctoral researcher at the Research Centre for Communication and Culture (CECC) at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Faculty of Human Sciences (UCP-FCH). He is also an Invited Assistant Professor at the same institution. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, a Master’s in Philosophy of Education, and a Master’s and a PhD in Communication Sciences in Media and Journalism. He has also had professional experience as a Philosophy Teacher in Secondary Education and he worked as a trainee at the European Commission, DG Connect. From 2020 to 2021 he had a Research Grant for the FCT project «Towards a history of journalism in Portugal», at Nova University of Lisbon, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (UNL–FCSH), Nova Institute of Communication (ICNOVA). Since 2015 he has participated as a conference speaker in a number of international conferences, organized by institutions such as IALJS, SOPCOM, IDEA, ICNOVA, IAMCR, and UCP. Since 2014 he has become a published author in a number of publications, edited by institutions/publications such as Éditions de l’Université de Lorraine, ICNOVA Editions, IPL Editions, Routledge; and by research journals such as Revista Comunicação e Sociedade, Revista Comunicação Pública, and IALJS. He has moderated several panels, was part of conference organizing committees, and has editorial experience in journals/books. His main research interests include non-fiction, creative writing, journalism, cultural journalism, political journalism, and literary journalism.
