Biography

María Luisa F. Falcón is a PhD student in Cultural Studies at the School of Human Sciences at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. She is also a junior researcher at Centro de Estudos de Comunicação e Cultura (CECC) and currently holds a scholarship from the Portuguese Science Foundation – FCT- to develop her investigation. She holds a degree in Theatre: Production Management, at Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema - ESTC (Lisbon Theatre and Film School) and an MA in Cultural Practices, at Nova University Lisbon, with the dissertation "Alternative Performance Spaces and their Place in the City of Lisbon". Her areas of scientific research are contemporary performance, theatre, non-conventional spaces, relationship between independent artists and cultural power, and translatability. She worked until 2014 as an assistant professor at the ESTC of the Lisbon Polytechnic Institute (IPL) and until 2023 as head of production of Teatro Praga. She's working at Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB) as a stage manager since 2024.
