Maria Amélia Cruz holds a PhD in Culture Studies from the Faculty of Human Sciences, Universidade Católica Portuguesa. She took her first degree in English and German Philology and her M.A. in German Studies at the Faculty of Letters, University of Lisbon. She taught English and German in Secondary Education and participated in several pedagogical projects at IAVE (Institute for Educational Assessment of the Ministry of Education). She has worked in technical and literary translation (German – Portuguese) and is member of CECC (Research Centre for Communication and Culture) in the research line ”Cognition and Translatability”. Her main research interests are Contemporary Children’s and Juvenile Literature, Translation and Culture Studies.
