Biography

Maria Carmo de Azevedo Carvalho has a Degree, a Masters and a PhD in Psychology by the University of Porto. Carmo is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education and Psychology - Universidade Católica Portuguesa. She has been a clinical psychologist accredited by the Portuguese Bar of Psychologists since 2016. She is Vice-President of the International Center for Ethnobotanical Education Research and Service, and she has been coordinating psychological emergency services for people who use drugs at recreational environments since 2010. Her research topics include addictive behaviors, nightlife and recreational environments, drug policy (adult-use cannabis regulation) and psychedelic science (therapeutic potential of psychedelics).
