Biography

Maria de Nazaré Sousa holds a degree in Portuguese Studies from the University of Beira Interior. At the same institution, she received a MA in Documental Sciences with a dissertation about the History of the Book and its influence on the Music History. She is currently a PhD candidate in Culture Studies at the Faculty of Human Sciences at Catholic University of Portugal and hers ongoing PhD project investigates the representation and perception of a Portuguese Identity through the contemporary Portuguese Popular Music. Her main research interests include Cultural Theory, Popular Music Studies and Identity Studies.
