Biography

Maria Luísa Resende completed her PhD in Classical Studies at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon in 2019, with a thesis on the study and transmission of Greek authors in 16th-century Portugal. In 2020, she was awarded the Professor Francisco Vieira de Almeida Prize, which ensured the publication of her PhD thesis ("A Transmissão de Luciano de Samósata em Portugal no século XVI". Lisboa: Imprensa da Universidade de Lisboa, 2023). She currently holds a position as Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Theology (Universidade Católica Portuguesa) and is an Integrated Researcher and member of the Board at the Centre for the Study of Religious History (CEHR-UCP). Main areas of interest: Portuguese Humanism; Biblical philology in 16th-century Portugal; transmission of Greek texts; Portuguese Inquisition.
