Biography
Marija Petkovic Garcia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology from the University of Belgrade, Serbia, and PhD in Biochemistry/Biotechnology from the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica (ITQB), Universidade Nova de Lisboa. After a short post-doctoral period, she has focussed on professional pre-award grant management support, first at the Instituto de Medicina Molecular and now heading the Pre-Award service at the Católica Biomedical Research Centre of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
During last seven years, she has been actively identifying funding opportunities in the wide area of biomedical research and ensuring stronger and compliant applications to numerous international and national, private and public funding programs. This process involves an active following and analysis of the national and European science policy trends, open and effective communication with various funders, institutional leaders, researchers, internal support units and peer research managers.
Marija Garcia seeks to contribute to the development of CBR strategic plan and studies on novel models for research funding acquisition, taking into account an increasing complexity of the national and international science enterprise. She is undertaking an analytical approach to science policy and collaborative networks in biomedical research, and analyses novel relevant performance indicators aligned with the institutional strategic objectives.
