Biography

Marla Pinto is a research fellow at Interdisciplinary Health Research Center of the Portuguese Catholic University (CIIS-Viseu), where she works on the Oraltherm project, focused on the effects of Vimioso thermal water on oral health. She graduated in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Coimbra (2020), where she developed a computational modeling project with potential applications in cancer treatment. Later, she completed a Master's in Biochemistry (2023), also in Coimbra, with research in microbiology (antifungal effects of natural extracts) and a thesis on molecular biomarkers in periodontal disease, using techniques such as RT-PCR, ELISA, and Western Blot. After completing her Master's, she joined the 3Boost project, focused on validating diagnostic tests for oral diseases, where she applied various molecular biology techniques. In addition to her research, she actively participated in extracurricular activities, as a member of NEQ/AAC, where she coordinated the "VII Employment and Entrepreneurship Fair" at the Department of Chemistry. She has presented her results at scientific meetings and participated in outreach activities. She stands out for her team management skills and ability to work under pressure.
