Biography

Marta Nunes da Silva is a biologist with a Master's Degree in Environmental Toxicology and Contamination and a PhD in Agronomic Sciences from the University of Porto. Marta is an expert in the field of genotype x environment interactions, plant protection, and agrosustainability. She has participated in numerous research and development projects, including 1 as a Contracted Researcher, 7 as Research Fellow, and 12 as Team Member. She has also published 25 articles in specialised peer-reviewed journals, 2 book chapters, and 4 magazine articles. Marta has supervised several students, including 1 MSc student and 4 BSc students, and co-supervised 1 PhD thesis, 7 MSc dissertations and 9 BSc final projects. Her work has been recognised with several international awards and honours, including 2 Young Mind Awards from the International Society of Horticultural Sciences, 1 Best Thesis Award from the MDPI, and 1st place in the international competition Three Minute Thesis (3MT), sponsored by the International Society for Horticultural Sciences. She has also served on the organising committee for 3 national events and presented a total of 40 communications in national and international meetings. Marta is an Invited Assistant Professor in Biology and Molecular Genetics, an acted as invited teacher in 1 international and 3 national universities and as a visiting researcher at 5 higher education institutions. Collaboration has been a hallmark of Marta's career, evident in her interactions with 179 collaborators and numerous co-authored scientific papers. She also serves as a Guest Editor in Crops and Sustainability, Review Editor in Frontiers in Plant Science - Plant Nutrition, and Reviewer in several journals such as Food Chemistry, Minerals, Frontiers in Nutrition, Antioxidants, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, Sustainability, Agriculture, Plants, and Protoplasma. Her broad range of contributions to the fields of Plant Protection, Agronomy, and Environmental Biotechnology, demonstrates her passion for research and education, and her desire to make a positive impact on the world.
