Biography

PhD in Biology, completed in 2008, studying the consequences of environmental impacts in the genetic diversity of Daphnia longispina populations. Since 2009, works in invertebrate models of innate immunity, especially the genetics and evolution of Drosophila antiviral immunity and Wolbachia mediated antiviral protection. Obtained the "Habilitation to Direct Research" in 2020. Assistant professor at the Faculdade de Medicina of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and staff scientist at the Católica Biomedical Research Centre since 2022.
