    Biography

    Patrícia Moreira holds a PhD in Biotechnology with specialization in Biochemical Engineering by the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP). She is an Assistant Professor at the School of Arts of UCP. She is deputy director of Center for Research in Science and Technology of the Arts (CITAR) and coordinates the CITAR's Focus Area of Heritage & Conservation and Restoration and is also a collaborator of Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF) both from UCP. Her main research area is in innovation in Biotechnology and Nanotechnology for Cultural Heritage with emphasis on biodeterioration, sustainability, circular economy, citizen science and green conservation. Other areas of scientific expertise are: Biodeterioration of Public Art and Contemporary Art, Intersection between Art and Science, Bioproducts; Enzymology; Mycology, Microbiology and Microbiome analysis for Heritage. She also co-represents the Green Conservation movement in Portugal and coordinated several research projects including BIO4MURAL (Innovative BIObiotechnology solutions FOR black stains removal and preventive conservation of historical and culturally important MURAL paintings), PTDC/HAR-ARQ/29157/2017 , funded by FCT, acting as PI, and HAC4CG (Heritage, Art, Creation for Climate change.Living the city: catalyzing spaces for learning, creation and action towards climate change), NORTE-01-0145-FEDER-000067, funded by CCDRN, acting as co-PI. She is the supervisor of several doctoral theses and master's degree thesis and author and co-author of numerous articles in high-impact journals.
