Pedro Braga Falcão holds a PhD in Classical Studies from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon. He teaches classical languages and history of religions at the Faculty of Theology of the Catholic University of Lisbon. He has developed research work on the religion of the ancient world, with a particular focus on Greek and Roman religion, their coexistence with Christianity, lecturing, organizing and accompanying various thematic seminars and scientific meetings in this field, and regularly publishing on these topics in scientific journals in the area. He is an integrated researcher at the Centre of Religious History Studies (Centro de Estudos de História Religiosa - Universidade Católica Portuguesa - UCP-CEHR); and a collaborating researcher at the Center for Classical Studies (Centro de Estudos Clássicos - Faculdade de Letras, Universidade de Lisboa - CEC-FLUL). He is also a member of the New Testament Scientific Subcommittee, which is preparing a new translation of the Bible under the auspices of the Portuguese Bishops' Conference. In the field of literature, his area of specialization is classical poetry, where he has published several studies and translations, particularly on the work of Horace, including translations of the Odes, Epodes and Epistles and a doctoral dissertation. In the field of comparative studies, he has published several articles on the reception of classical culture not only in literature (particularly in the heteronymous work of Fernando Pessoa), but also in Western music, drawing on his training and regular musical activity as a musician (viola player). He is also regularly active as a poet, essayist and novelist, with several titles published, as well as conceiving and accompanying various performance projects involving dialog between music and literature.
