Currently I'm a Research Fellow at CBQF, in Universidade Católica Portuguesa working in the project Therm4Skin. My research focuses on the identifying and characterizing the bioactive components of Thermal Spring Waters to explore their therapeutical potential in cosmetic formulations for inflammatory skin conditions and age-related skin changes. Through this project I have acquired experience in cell culture techniques and biological assays for the determination of anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as evaluating the impact of these bioactive compounds on Collagen and Fibronectin protein synthesis. Previously, during my Master thesis research, I had the opportunity of integrating the Phenotypic Evolution group at i3S where I gained valuable insights in Bioinformatics. The research employed aimed at predicting the protein-protein interactions involving Ataxin-3, a crucial protein implicated in the development of a neurodegeneratie disease. Through this project I acquired hands-on experience in protein structure prediction using both I-TASSER and AlphaFol and developed expertise in protein docking through the usage of multiple software platforms. I've also gained proificiency in data processing, script development for analysis, and utilization of Docker images for efficient workflow execution. During my academic formation I've gained experience both in microbiology and molecular biology, having hands-on experience in the transformation and expression of recombinat proteins for sutainable goals. As in my Bachelor project,I've evaluated the capacity of a recombinat PETase expressed in E.coli to degrade plastic as an approach for polution management purposes.
